Everything you need to know before joining Flydro Academy.

An RPTO (Remote Pilot Training Organisation) is an institution authorized by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to train remote pilots. Training from a certified RPTO like Flydro Academy is mandatory to obtain your Remote Pilot Certificate (RPC) in India. This ensures your training meets national aviation safety standards.
As per DGCA classification, Small category drones have an all-up weight between 2 kg and 25 kg, while Medium category drones weigh between 25 kg and 150 kg. The certification requirements and operational permissions differ for each category, with Medium category requiring more advanced training.
You must be at least 18 years old, have passed Class 10 (or equivalent), and hold a valid government-issued ID. No prior aviation experience is required. You'll also need to pass a basic medical examination, which we can help arrange.
It depends on the course. For courses that involve drone flying operations (such as Drone Flying for Large Scale Mapping and Large Scale LiDAR Operations), you need to have completed your DGCA-certified RPAS training and hold a valid Remote Pilot Certificate. However, for post-processing and desk-based courses (such as Orthomosaic Post-Processing and Property Digitisation), no prior drone qualification is required — anyone can enroll.
The training program takes 5 to 7 days depending on the category. After completing training, you'll take the DGCA online exam. Once you pass, the RPC is typically issued within 2-4 weeks. Our team assists you through the entire application and documentation process.
While we don't have on-campus accommodation, we have partnered with nearby hotels and guesthouses at both our Belgaum and Mysore locations to offer discounted stays for our trainees. Our team will help you arrange comfortable accommodation near the training center.
